A fall getaway on the lake
Majestic Shores Resort (formerly known as MS Camp) will be offered in a new format with a new name. MS Recharge & Reconnect (MS R&R) is a four-day/three night vacation for adults living with multiple sclerosis held at Camp Courage on the shores of beautiful Cedar Lake near Maple Lake, Minn. MS R&R guests can connect to other people living with MS at a beautiful, lake-side setting and take a break from the daily challenges of living with a chronic illness.
MS R&R will be held in partnership with True Friends at Camp Courage. We’re excited to offer this valuable opportunity to more people across the Upper Midwest. While we require people to be independent and/or bring their own caregiver or personal care attendant (PCA), we will offer some scholarships for both people with MS and their caregivers. Limited funds for transportation will be available as well.
Assistance
Guests who need one-on-one personal care assistance must bring a personal care attendant.
The fee for participation is $139 for each individual; $268 if paying for yourself and your PCA. A $50 deposit to True Friends is due upon sending in the application. Limited scholarships are available. In order to assist as many people possible, we do ask that people pay at least some of the cost to attend if it is possible for you to do so. If you need assistance with any part of the cost (including the deposit), please mark that on the application. MS Society services staff will follow up with you in regards to any financial assistance application paperwork that may be needed.
Applications the $50 non-refundable deposit are due to True Friends by July 15, 2015. Applications can be downloaded here. If you would like an application print and sent to you, please call 800-582-5296. Completed applications should be sent to: True Friends, 10509 108th St. NW, Annandale, MN 55302.
Once True Friends receives your application and deposit (or request for financial assistance), you’ll receive a mailing from them confirming it was received. Once the application deadling has passed, we’ll be reviewing all cabin requests and PCA requests and requirements. If we have more requests than space available, applicants may be added to a waiting list. In early August, you’ll receive an acceptance letter and packet from the NMSS with further program details. At that time, if we have more applicants than space available, you may receive notification that you’ve been placed on the waiting list. If you remain on the waiting list and don’t attend MS R&R, your $50 deposit will be returned.
