MS On the Move Luncheon

August 13, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

MS Logo 2The 16th annual On the Move luncheon will be hosted Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Depot in Minneapolis to support the MS Scholarship Program. The luncheon recognizes the importance of secondary education and gifts made at the event help students realize their dreams of going to college despite the financial burden multiple sclerosis might impose on their families. The MS Scholarship program awarded $100,000 to 81 students for the 2016 school year.

Event Details

The luncheon includes delicious food, inspirational speakers and an exciting live and silent auction.

Schedule
10 to 11:30 a.m. — Networking and silent auction.
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Luncheon, presentation and live auction.
1 to 1:30 p.m. — Auction checkout.

Speaker
This year’s keynote speaker is Emmy award-winning journalist Mary Lahammer. Mary has been a program host and political reporter for Twin Cities Public Television (tpt) since 1998. Prior to her employment with tpt, Mary earned degrees in Journalism and Mass Communications and Constitutional Law History from the University of Minnesota. She has won several Emmys and numerous other awards for her anchoring, reporting, producing and photography. Lahammer was also named one of the best Capitol reporters in America by the Washington Post, “Best TV Reporter” by Minnesota Monthly, “Best Newscaster” by City Pages Magazine, and has produced a variety of documentaries on topics such as global trade missions and Minnesota history.

Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis several years ago, Mary publicly shared her diagnosis. “My job is to share information,” she said. “Creating a new, young, vibrant face of this disease is important to convincing people with symptoms to get diagnosed early,” which lessens the chance that MS will cause permanent disability. “If I can educate people about MS, I think I can help.”

Menu
Guests will enjoy a fresh salad of mixed field greens, grilled chicken breast, roasted vegetables and The Depot’s signature maple vinaigrette dressing. For dessert, we’ll serve a salted caramel bread pudding served in a martini glass!
